Bali Island Tropical Architectural

Inspiration is oriental and techniques are of Brazilian tropical architecture. Designed by architect Ligia Resstom, the house of 900 m² has three modules with different functions, surrounded by a coconut plantation in Trancoso, Bahia.

With a huge coconut plantation, the land on top of a cliff, which overlooks the sea in a quiet beach town of Trancoso, south of Bahia, won a couple of entrepreneurs paulistanos. Ali both the idealized dream house to welcome family and friends during the holidays. The design, created by architect Paulo Ligia Resstom with oriental style inspiration in the island of Bali, Indonesia, and technical architecture typical of tropical Brazilian, led to construction of three modules totaling 900 m². So great, right at the entrance, the house looks like a horizontal hotel. But to go through it, there are few rooms, all spacious and comfortable. "Homeowners urged to flee a house the conventional, with several pavilions scattered among the palm trees and most integrated environments to grassy outdoor area," says Ligia. With the proposal to be sustainable, the building features light and airy structure made with eucalyptus and massaranduba that are reforested wood. In hipped roof with wide eaves, the architect used tiles colonial type of ceramic. The few masonry walls were finished with plaster of white paint or rustic colored ink. "We highlight some internal walls with intense shades of yellow and purple with external, that the home owners enjoy," adds the architect.

The facades facing the pool, social spaces are closed only by sliding wooden shutter having adjustable opening and tilting glass. Above them, the roof beams together, put flags Ligia glass fixed to the constant and abundant natural light. "The house is well lit. During the day, almost no need to light the lamps, "says the architect. The lighting design is composed of a few fixtures. Most are in ceiling fans. There are still the pillars of wood sconces and pendants on the tables. main entrance of the house is a long, wide walkway outside with floor deck ipe wood and bamboo and glass cover, which interconnects the three modules. Each has its function. The largest, surrounded by balconies, meets six suites, including the couple, with access by a spacious hall. Here are the highlights of the colorful floor hydraulic tiles, designed by the architect, and a giant painting on the wall, made by Sullivan, a local artist. "Do not put plaster ceiling in this area, as in the rooms, to gain maximum height of the ceiling, which is 5.70 m up the ridge," says Ligia. It is important to get a comfortable temperature in the interiors of houses in hot places, like Bahia. "The high ceilings help ventilation. The hot air rises, keeping cool. "

The architect had the same concern for the other two modules. One gathers leisure activities, with home theater, game rooms and seating. The whole area has a concrete floor and white burnt planking installed along the tiles between the battens and rafters. The other pavilion is aimed at mealtimes, with a living room integrated with dining and barbecue space. The kitchen is closed and lies on the side next to service area. To facilitate cleaning, the floor is covered with white ceramic. All areas are open to the pool, which is surrounded by decks and roofs of bamboo and glass structure with eucalyptus logs. According to the Oriental spirit of construction, the architect chose natural fiber furniture outside and inside the house. Inside, there are many wooden furniture lacquered or aged. In the rooms, all beds have canopies. In the bathrooms, the sink counter tops are tatajuba wood. How like plants, the owners take care of their own landscaping. "They use the house to recover from the stress of life in São Paulo and want always open to nature," says the architect. "Priority one is the outdoor area where they can see the ocean and feel the breeze from the top here."
